How the motorcycle theory test works

The motorcycle theory test follows the same format as the car test: 50 multiple-choice questions in 57 minutes, with a pass mark of 43 out of 50. You need to pass it after completing your CBT and before you can book the module 1 and module 2 practical tests, so it sits right in the middle of the route to a full licence.

What makes the motorcycle test different

Alongside the shared subjects such as hazard awareness and rules of the road, riders get their own topics — safety and your motorcycle, motorcycle handling and motorcycle loading. Expect questions on carrying pillion passengers, riding in poor weather, tyre and chain checks, and how a sidecar or luggage changes the way a machine behaves. This bank holds 703 questions across 14 topics, each answer paired with an explanation.

Revise topic by topic, then prove your preparation with the timed 50-question mock test. The separate hazard perception part of the exam uses 14 clips with a pass mark of 44 out of 75.
